Oneself Neurodiversity was born out of the frustration of seeing fee paying clients receive sub-standard services whilst paying an inflated price. Time and again we read private reports which had not examined neurodiversity with the thoroughness assumed in clinical guidelines and witnessed clients being charged above standard rates for the service; often without an individualised report. Furthermore, clinicians were frequently working alone, without the MDT support required. Without such provision within clinical assessments, clients risked not being accepted into services nor their assessment being recognised for official purposes.
We were also frustrated that often clinicians approaching Neurodiversity assessment were not specialists, but practitioners who had done training to offer neurodiversity assessment to an existing line of work without any concerted experience. Oneself was committed to using clinicians who had worked in the field of neurodiversity and with neurodiverse clients.
