Oneself Neurodiversity Team are passionate that Autism and ADHD are differences, not disorders, and embrace the capacities, abilities and potentials that neurodiverse clients bring. We will refer throughout to 'difficulty,' 'difference' and 'characteristic' as opposed to 'symptoms,' 'conditions' or 'disorder.' Our reports are written to this affect.

Oneself recognises however, that ADHD and Autism are psychiatric, medical terms and this is the language that is most often used when reports are needed for acceptance into statutory services. We value that our assessments and reports have a real bearing for clients seeking other services. Because of this, Oneself undertakes a medical standard assessment, utilising a neuroaffirmative language and position. In this we hope to bring a caring, humane experience to a medical diagnostic assessment and produce sensitive, person centered reports which are accessible and recognised by institutions who favour a medical framework.

Oneself is a team that has further experienced neurodiversity directly or in caring capacity for friends and family. It engages directly with those of lived experience in reviewing its service offer and continuing to optimise its language and process for the community.
